TerraToteTM Adds Organic Sack Options

Montpelier, VA - July 2008 Eco-Logics announces the launch of its certified organic cotton TerraSack, the newest edition to the TerraTote sustainable bag line. While every bag in the elegant TerraTote line is meant to be both functional and aesthetically designed, the TerraSack offers a new dimension to bringing your own bag.
Holding twice the volume of a plastic grocery sack, the TerraSack is roomy enough for pounds upon pounds of groceries or other items. Because it is made of lightweight organic cotton, it folds away when it's not needed - allowing the user to carry it in their back pocket if they so choose. "As with a number of other bag manufacturers, our goal was to create a reusable bag that not only performed well but that was ultra transportable. The difference is that the TerraSack is made from pesticide-free certified organic cotton," said Alison Larkin, president of parent company Eco-Logics, Inc. "We like the functionality of the nylon and polyester sacks too, but for us it was a no-brainer. We wanted to use something that offered complete sustainability." So it was back to nature for the design and production of the sacks. It also completely biodegrades back into the earth at the end of its life. Depending on wear and tear and daily use, that could be anywhere from a year to several years.
Another feature found in the organic sack? It's a little design detail that was a must for the Eco-Logics staffers. "How many times do you hand your bags to the grocery baggers and get the eye roll? Or that just-barely-discernable attitude?," asks Larkin. "Simply put, baggers don't want to move outside of their comfort zone, and some reusable totes can be clumsy for them to fill. That's why we added a hanging system to every bag." The "hanging system" is a small flap with a sewn eye slit in it. This allows the bag to be hung on the plastic bag dispensers while being filled. "Now we actually have sixteen year old boys complimenting us on the bags, asking us where we got them!" The flap is heavy-duty enough to hang substantial weight, making it more durable than a loop construction.
The TerraSack is offered blank as well as in printed variety packs from www.green-kits.com. Printed bags are produced with non-toxic inks and all print work is done by hand in small batches.
